Will Robert Pattinson Be Singing and Presenting at the Oscars

There is still no official word from the Oscars organizers whether Robert Pattinson and/or Kristen Stewart will be attending the Oscars, “Reps for the stars and the awards show did not comment.”

Nevertheless, the idea that Kristen Stewart, who was first rumored to be a presenter, will present an award at the Oscars without Robert Pattinson, is ludicrous, I say. Not that the lovely Kristen is incapable without Rob by her side, but, let’s face it, if the Oscars organizers want the ratings to shoot up because of the massive Twilight market, then they’d better make sure Robert Pattinson is there.

Now, first time Oscars producer Laurence Mark has hinted on two possible instances wherein the Twilight stars might be seen, “I promise you, there will be a presence. I promise there is and on more than one occasion.”

Now, let us speculate on the possible ways Rob can participate at the Oscars. Some are far-fetched, but, nevertheless, they shall be enumerated.

Will Robert Pattinson Interpret A Best Song Nominee There are three nominees for Best Song, and the singers have confirmed that they will not be performing.

“Peter Gabriel, a nominee for “Down to Earth” from WALL-E, announced this morning he’ll be at the Oscars, but he won’t be performing during the Best Song medley with “Jai Ho” and “O…Saya,” both from Slumdog Millionaire. Gabriel [suggested] to have the Soweto Gospel Choir step in to replace him.”

A possible compromise is for Rob to sing a stanza or a couple of lines solo, and then the Soweto Gospel Choir will harmonize their voices with his for the remaining 65 second version of “Down to Earth.” Here’s a sample of the lyrics:

Did you think that your feet had been bound
By what gravity brings to the ground?
Did you feel you were tricked
By the future you picked?
Well come on down

I don’t know how Rob feels about singing cover instead of his original work though. Anyway, the song is within his vocal range. However, this is the most far-fetched possibility, but, you never know… ;-)

Will Hugh Jackman Poke Fun at Robert and His Hair Another “presence” is for Hugh Jackman to include in his opening spiel about the Twilight phenomenon and Robert Pattinson, and then have Rob enter onstage and say a line.

Another version can have Hugh Jackman go offstage and approach the section where Rob is, and, either just point him out or even ask him a couple of questions.

Will Robert and Kristen Present Separately If Twilight will be represented twice at the Oscars, another harrowing possibility is for the Twilight stars to be separated and paired off with other male and female presenters. I sincerely hope this will NOT happen.

Will Rob and Kristen Present Together As I have written in an earlier post, “Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart can present together one of the awards that comes midway or even later during the show, maybe one of the technical awards, [like Art Direction], to make sure that the female dominated Twilight market will stay glued to their TV screens.”

Will the Cameras Focus on Rob More Than 3 Times Now, if I were the director, I will make sure to pan that side of the audience where Rob and Kristen will be seated at the very beginning of the Oscars show (unless Rob has a special entrance during the Hugh Jackman spiel), so that their presence can be established, thus, ensuring the attentiveness of the Twilight market.

And then, I’ll catch Rob’s reaction/s to a joke of Hugh Jackman and/or the announcement of a winner, maybe someone from England, like Kate Winslet for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Of course, I think Rob will be on camera more than three times, since the ratings will go up exponentially by the millions every time he’s in focus.

Will Rob go early to the red carpet? Of course, it will be utterly fantastic if Rob and Kristen can go down the red carpet together and answer questions from the press about New Moon. (It will also be a great time to spot whether Michael Angarano accompanied Kristen to the awards show.)

There you go! Pick one or two possibilities, and then wish real hard that Rob and Kristen’s participation will be confirmed soon. See you at the Oscars!

If Rob appears, that won’t be responsible for making the ratings go up. What will make the ratings go up is our *anticipation* that Rob might appear. They’ve got us … We HAVE to watch, because if we don’t, we’ll miss him if he does. If he was definitely going to be there, the producers would have been smarter to advertise that heavily to bring in more viewers. But as it is, they’re just giving us a tease to make us watch, either way.

    look what I found!

“HitFix can exclusively confirm that Robert Pattinson will be presenting an award at this year’s 81st Academy Awards.

The “Twilight” star had long been rumored to appear on Hollywood’s biggest night, but barring any unforeseen last minute conflicts, he’ll be giving the franchise’s legion of fans something to look forward to on Oscar Sunday.

Still unclear is whether Pattinson’s “Twilight” co-star Kristen Stewart will also appear on the telecast and what award he will specifically present. And, obviously, speculation will now run rampant on who Pattinson’s date down the red carpet will be.

Pattinson rose to super-stardom after being chose to play the dreamy vampire Edward Cullen in “Twilight.” The first in a series of big screen adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s popular book series, “Twilight” astounded the industry by raking in $188 million domestically and $357 million worldwide.

The 22-year-old Brit will appear later this spring as Salvador Dali in the indie drama “Little Ashes.” He’s expected to begin production next month on the “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon” which will be released Nov. 20.”

Thanks, Amanda! :-) Although I’ve read it before, what bothers me about this announcement is that there is no mention of reliable sources like the actors’ reps or Oscar organizers. Of course, I’m hoping it’s true. ;-)

Yes! Confirmed already that Rob will be presenting at Oscars according to HITFIX.

I saw the picture of him in LA, but, nobody from the Oscars or Rob’s camp wants to confirm he’s a presenter :-(
