Why Oscar Nominee Jesse Eisenberg Is Grateful to Michael Angarano

Kristen Stewart co-starred with Jesse Eisenberg in Adventureland, who, coincidentally, almost had a film project with her ex-boyfriend — Michael Angarano

Almost because Jesse Eisenberg had to beg off from the movie Ceremony to work on another one. With his departure, Ceremony producers didn’t have to look far as to who can easily step in to do the lead role in the film featuring the directorial debut of Max Winkler

Since Michael Angarano was already slated to play the supportive friend to the character of Jesse Eisenberg in the film Ceremony, it was not hard for the producers to imagine him taking over the role of besotted young man to the beautiful Uma Thurman. Ceremony producer Matt Spicer explains.

“Once we started reading young actors to replace Jesse [Eisenberg], we thought, ‘Hey, Michael [Angarano] already knows the story so well, why not give him a chance to read?’ He was open to it so he read with [director Max Winkler] and just blew us all away. It was kind of fortuitous in a way because I think the movie will be excellent with Michael in the role. He’s insanely dynamic and has this natural charm that’s just intoxicating.”

Ceremony has premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival to excellent reviews and has been picked up for distribution. It will likely open in theaters on 2011.

I’m sure Jesse Eisenberg is thankful that he was easily replaced by Michael Angarano in Ceremony. No actor wants to leave his producers in a quandary. And, what was the film that Jesse Eisenberg left Ceremony for? Oh, just a David Fincher project called The Social Network, which has already garnered several nominations at the 2011 Oscar Awards, including Best Actor for Jesse Eisenberg :D
