A Twilight Kiss

I heard Kristen mutter disbelievingly, “What the f—? Is that Paris Hilton coming towards us?”

Our other companions seated at the dining table in the hotel’s restaurant discreetly turned their heads towards the direction she was indicating.

Taylor confirmed, “Yeah, I think so.”

As the blonde socialite sauntered towards our table, Kristen exclaimed, “OMG! What the hell is she coming here for?” She glared at me disdainfully, “Looks like you have another admirer…”

Before I could explain that Paris and I got acquainted during last Sunday’s after-Oscar Vanity Fair party, the lady arrived and said with a smile, “Hi, Rob!”

Inwardly, I laughed at the slightly gaping mouth of Kristen, which betrayed her surprise that Paris and I knew each other.

I grinned in welcome and greeted her, “Hey, Paris. It’s a nice surprise to see you here.”

I stood up to offer my hand, but, as soon as my palm was enfolded in hers, she used the light clasp to grip my hand and pull me towards her. I turned my head quickly to the side so that my lips could graze her cheek in a friendly kiss, instead of a light smack on the lips that she intended.

Paris hooked her arm in mine and said in her light breathy voice, “Fancy meeting you here. There was some urgent business for me to take care of so I flew here to Tokyo from LA.”

All I could say was, “Wow.” I was in Tokyo for the Twilight premiere and the accompanying press junket. I remember mentioning it during our conversation in the garden last Sunday, but, I don’t remember her telling me that she was going to Tokyo as well.

I had been actually relieved when the Hilton heiress had approached me during the Vanity Fair party and suggested a walk out in the garden for a bit of fresh air. The unfamiliar surroundings and the sea of strangers from the Oscars show and the after-Oscars parties had taken its toll on me, and I longed to escape, even for just a moment.

Under the black sky and the glittering stars, Paris and I bantered and flirted a bit. As I glanced at my watch, I was astonished to see that the moment had become an hour or more. We both returned to the party immediately.

I suddenly remembered my manners and introduced Paris to the members of the group, which included my Twilight co-stars, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, and the people comprising our “entourage.” I chuckled at the thought of an “entourage,” a strange concept when one was more accustomed to isolation and independence.

After the customary greetings have been exchanged, Paris tightened her hold on me and then pouted, “My friend abandoned me. Could you stay with me until he gets back?”

Gallantly, I immediately said yes, and excused myself from the group. Everyone had already finished eating, and we were just making conversation when Paris arrived.

Before we could slip away, Kristen reminded me, “We have a 7am call time for the press interviews tomorrow.”

I made a dismissive face to indicate that I can handle it.

But, she persisted, “You might get too tired for tomorrow. And we still have the premiere at night.”

I reassured her with a grin, “I’ll just load up on caffeine.”

Kristen turned to my agent to ask for a second opinion. My affable agent shrugged her shoulders. Exasperated, Kristen grumbled, “Fine. Just make sure to text when you get back.”

I stared at her in disbelief. Why is she acting like some nanny or something? I chose not to reply, waved a general goodbye to everyone and then followed Paris to her table.

1. During the Vanity Fair party on 22 February 2009, Rob and Paris were spotted going off into the garden for more or less an hour.
2. Rob flew immediately from LA and arrived in Tokyo Japan on 24 February 2009.
3. Paris Hilton was seen at the LAX airport leaving for Tokyo on 24 February 2009.
4. Kristen Stewart landed in Tokyo on 25 February 2009 accompanied by a couple of people, none of whom is her boyfriend — Michael Angarano
5. Kristen, Rob and Paris should all be in Tokyo by today, 26 February 2009, so my fictitious tale is perfectly possible. LOL

I had fun writing this fictitious tale because I’m thinking that the presence of Paris Hilton in Tokyo might bring out Kristen’s protective instincts towards Rob, as well as her jealous streak, that’s why I had her trying to stop him from going off with Paris Hilton.

I think Lainey puts it best regarding the dangers of a possible hook up between Robert Pattinson and Paris Hilton (who she refers to as Ebola, short for Ebola virus, a deadly virus for humans).

“And for those of you, many of you, who emailed today to discuss the possibility that [Rob] might escape infection, that it was only “talking” they did on Sunday night, that Rob is immune to Ebola’s evils…

“Stop deluding yourself. It’s pathetic.

“He spent AN HOUR with a virus. It should have taken him 2 minutes to get tired of the stank, maybe another 3 to be polite about extricating himself, and another 5 to grab his people, call the car, and hustle the f-ck out of there.

“Instead, he stayed. For more than SIXTY MINUTES he stayed. And they went to the GARDEN! ALONE!!!

“There are no excuses. None.

“You all need to move on. I will support you. I am here.”
