Should Breaking Dawn Be Done In Two Films
Variety discusses at length the reasons why Breaking Dawn may or may not be split into two films, the main factor being financial.
With the immense success of the franchise and the fact that most of The Twilight Saga actors are only under contract for a specific number of pictures, their paychecks, as well as those of the creative team and Stephenie Meyer, of course, will see a steep rise if there’s a fifth film.
Casting those aside, in your personal opinion, do you think Breaking Dawn should be done in two films?
No. Even if Stephenie Meyer thinks it should be done in two films, I think the story can be told in a two hour and a half (more or less) film adaptation.
Yes, of course! I can’t get enough of The Twilight Saga, and the book is so long it should be broken up in into two films anyway.
Personally, I think the story line of Breaking Dawn is simpler than Eclipse, and can be done in one film. However, I think the real scenario will have two films shot back to back for budgetary and scheduling reasons as well as to maximize returns. What do you think?

I would rather is to be in two films. Actually, I really want it to be made into two films because there is alot of events to cover in BD and I want to see it ALL so I don’t want it to be rushed in a two and a half hour time cap.

I don’t really care as long as they make it into a film. But if I really have to choose, I’ll say they do it into two films. They won’t have to worry about the budget. We know that Eclipse will make enough or more returns when premiered. People are gonna see it no matter what so doesn’t really matter.

anything will be great…
as long as they gonna make it for sure…
is there any official statement about this film yet?

Two films.
December 1st, 2009 at 7:19 pm
yeah, it should be in two films…
I just hope that they would work for it immediately, c’mon Rob should look 17, but even if he was 30 or 40 yr old i think it doesn’t matter. He will always be our Edward!!! lmao

i don’t think i can wait that long if they’re gonna have it in two. but im afraid plenty of scenes will be deleted. can’t they just have it in one film which runs for 3-4 hours? im so willing to pay 500 for cinema tickets. haha!

Two films. One for Bella prevamp. The other for Bella postvamp. I don’t know if I read it here or somewhere else but someone suggested for the second one to start with Bella opening her eyes as a new vamp. I thought that was a fantastic idea

the contents of Breaking Dawn can be squeezed in one film. nothing much happened, just a lot of internal drama. the script could simplify that. (besides critics will say the Twilight is yet again ripping from harry potter, and another titanic clash from passionate fans will resurface. If there is one thing that I hate the most is Twilight being compared to HP. I hate it because Twilight always lose in almost all aspects.
And honestly (and I know a lot of people will hate me for this) but I think Mellisa Rosenberg makes a poor work in writing the screenplay (I’ve read both, currently looking for Eclipse.) The directors and the actors are constantly trying to change the details because they do not work. (I know scripts undergo a lot of revisions, but the script is just…blah)it’s not about the big events, it’s the little bits, those tiny ‘wows,’ those are the ones missing.

i personaly think there should be just one film since the book wasn’t really long. Can’t wait though!!
December 2nd, 2009 at 4:20 am
well ,i really would like it to be two , only cause i dont want it to end.. lol …
but if finally its two movies they have to be close one from another or ill die waiting …

I’d rather it were made in one movie.
I mean to make it two, they’d have to split it at one point, and where would that be? What would be the point in seperating it? How would it be seperated?
Wedding/honeymoon/pregnancy…Film 1
Vampire Bella/Fight…Film 2
Then we’d have to wait for the part 1, and then part 2 to come out.
December 2nd, 2009 at 5:36 am
Uh, yeah.
There’s too much going on for it to only be 2hrs; you got E/B’s honeymoon, her finding out she’s preggers, Jacob interfering, STILL, the transformation, the baby, the volturi, their second honeymoon, ect. I know they won’t put EVERYTHING in there but everything that I put down is essential/needed in the movie or else it won’t make sense.

There should be 2 movies made as there is so much going on in Breaking Dawn. But to do that if they stick closely to the books storyline I feel that it may require a R-rating which would keep a majority of fans unable to go see it at the movies, and I’m sure the powers at Summit wouldn’t allow that as teens are where the moneys at. All I can say is either way as long as the make it, as Twilight wouldn’t be complete if they don’t…Someone make a decision…ASAP!!!!

December 2nd, 2009 at 9:39 am
i would like it in 2 but that would take a long time!!!!
December 2nd, 2009 at 11:20 am
i mean i can’t get enough of the twilight saga ever, im totally in love with it, but other movies are longer then 2 hours possibly 3 yeah 3
so can’t breaking dawn be more then 2 and a half hours? but it would be better in one film.

I totally agree w/ saphemyst.
Rosenberg did an awful job for new moon,so did CW.
i’d prefer CH for direct BD.
And it should be separated into 2 films. One prevamp and postvamp.

i want it in two films because some details might be left out and i would like a detailed movie.
December 3rd, 2009 at 2:15 am
Two films or a 3-4 hours film,hehe!
December 3rd, 2009 at 11:44 pm
A lot had been said about CH lately but for me, she’s the only director who could capture the true essence of love between E/B. The success of Twilight is a testament to that.(No offence to CW or any other director). First part of BD is about a girl’s engagement, marriage, honeymoon, giving birth & motherhood. These are natural stages in a woman’s life/domain w/o being sexist. As to whether one or two films, I believe Lorna is in a better position to give an insight to this as she can do screenplays.
December 4th, 2009 at 9:49 am
I totally agree with you Addy, I think CH should came back for BD, she’ll be able to tell the story in just one film, even if it is a 2hr and 1/2 film.
December 4th, 2009 at 9:54 am
i don´t give a s—t if the movie takes 5 hours!!!
i will love to see it!!!!!!!!!
December 4th, 2009 at 11:02 pm
thank God i read in here that CH did a great job in twilight than CW, i totally thought that i am the only one who noticed that
its doesnt matter to me if BD will be 1 or 2 movies.. i just want to see it! and i hope that SM will write another book following BD… i really miss edward and bella
December 4th, 2009 at 11:37 pm
@icey: you’re not the only one who miss Bella and Edward. I also think CH is the only one who could bring Edward and Bella alive from the Book, who could make Rob and Kristen’s chemistry so strong that people are getting obsessed with this stuff. New Moon was so much expected and comercial suceed because of Twilight. The Twilight saga has been ruiled by those male director, who couldn’t understand what’re women love to see. Eclipse is going to have more actions and maybe become a guys movie. I just wait to see BD so that I could see Bella and Edward’s love passion again. 2 movies is great, so they have time to bring all the parts we love to the movies. In NEW MOON I miss so much the EB’s reunion dialogue in her room. They made such a big mistake cutting that part so short. Melisa Rosenberg is a poor writer. I don’t want her to make BD again, she ruined everythings we love from these books of SM.
December 6th, 2009 at 12:37 am
@Doremon, i totally agree with you! Thank God we’re on the same wavelength! there are a lot of missing “important scenes” in that new moon movie and it really dissappointed me! and the way the Cullens looked! oh my! NR as rosalie is totally disturbing and the rosalie in New moon disturbed me more!!! but in fairness to them the volturi looked really good and jacob too.. it’s just sad that Edward really looked like a total mess even with the scenes he should have looked good.. haaays! anyways, we’ll just have to wait for eclipse now and see if the director nailed it… i hope so….

Uh, hell yeah; Breaking Dawn should be in two films. There’s too much going on for it not to be broken in two. ATTENTION: BREAKING NEWS –
“BREAKING DAWN” GETS ‘BROKEN’ IN TWO.
February 8th, 2010 at 1:33 am
Breaking Dawn needs to be two movies. There is so much in the book that making one movie would mean that so much has to be left out and I don’t want anything left out at all.
