Robert Pattinson Says Loving Somebody Forever is Silly

On 31 March 2009, Twilight Poison featured a translation of an interview of Rob with Glamour Magazine Spain entitled ‘Difficult to Resist’ where he reveals his more current views on love. (Thanks to Pattinson Online for the heads up.)
It took [Edward Cullen] 90 years to find love. Do you believe in love at first sight?
That’s so boring! I think we all have the right to fall in love several times. The conventional idea of love, the idea of being with somebody for the rest of your life and love her forever sounds so silly to me, and so unrealistic. I think you can love ten people at the same time (laughs).Does Twilight remind you of your real life and high school, when two people are attracted to each other with such energy?
Yes, although I had really bad luck with girls, the ones I liked hated me and the ones that liked me were not my type. But that’s something that I still go through, I like girls that I shouldn’t like. But I’m learning and now I take my time before I let the girl know.Do you believe in obsessive love?
Yes, but only from a girl’s point of view. I don’t think men are like that. Not many men read Stephenie Meyer books anyway.Would it scare you to fall in love like the characters in Twilight?
Yes, because it’s an obsessive love, a sick love. When you fall in love and you lose yourself like that. Imagine falling in love like that!Do you get hit on by difficult women?
I’m crazy about independent women who don’t require too much attention.Do you talk about love in [your journals when you were 17]?
Actually, no. I’ve only been attracted to two women in my whole life.Do you remember the first time you loved someone?
Yes. It’s weird to enjoy your first love, especially if the relationship lasts a long time. Our relationship was really beautiful, but we didn’t have an obsessive love like in the movie. Her presence in my life made me very happy for three years. Now it’s kind of hard to talk about it.
By contrast, a much earlier 2008 interview with Madchen reveals a more romantic Rob (maybe something happened somewhere in between?). 
Do you believe in love on the first bite?
Yes, I do. It’s absolutely possible that you meet somebody in the streets and you suddenly fall in love with this person. That often happens to me (laughs).Do you believe in something like soulmates?
I don’t know if you can have a soulmate, but sometimes you meet someone and you know they’ll always be with you- for the rest of your life.Are you romantic?
When I was fifteen I had a date with a girl at the zoo. But we didn’t have enough money to pay the entrance. So we ran along the fence of the zoo on the outside. It was raining and we didn’t have an umbrella with us, I think that was romantic.Can love be boundless?
Yes, I think so. When you really love somebody something like rich and poor or bad and good doesn’t matter.What else is important for you?
I like talented girls. If she’s really talented I don’t really care about the other things.Are you a gentleman?
Of course! Even when I don’t follow every rule I think I’m a gentlemanWhat do you do to be polite during a date?
I don’t question the girl and don’t tell her how she has to be for me. I don’t want her to corrupt herself for me!Are you a womanizer?
Not at all (grins). I rather go out with girls than with boys and if I’d try to have something with every girl around me then I would lose these friendships.

I read some interview that his friend told to the interviewer that robert told him (friend) he was fall in love with a girl and he loved her so much, but the friend didn’t know who’s the girl.

Sounds like Robert is sending out some cryptic message to Kristen. Nikki, hopefully you’re reading this because it sounds like he prefer talented girls like Kristen and not a chasing one. At least Robert is being honest.

Nice to know you’re based in Japan. Were you in Tokyo when Rob, Kristen and Taylor were there?
And with regards to the vid of Rob and Kristen in the same cab or vehicle, it was most probably arranged by production to bring them to the set.
For convenience, all the actors are very likely billeted in the same hotel, unless they’re based in Vancouver (like maybe some of the wolf pack members). Thanks for the link!

I think He still romantic. In one of the interviews in Japan Rob says …When you spend time away from each other, then you realize how much you miss that person…
I really feel for Rob .Kristen would give him a chance. I guess it’s a matter of time. She is a nice girl, real and very honest in her work but she’s being selfish and stubborn trying to prove everyone wrong. Go Rob don’t give up.

So that video on youtube shows KS w/ her leg up thats a subconscious emotional barrier to his feelings of her. He has been doing that to her too lately in Tokyo. Anyway atleast thats what body lang expert said on the Bachelor when that guy dumped Melissa.

Oh wow, what a contrast between the 2 interviews? Something happened I guess. Poor Rob. I hope he can find true love. I like KS but if she won’t take him I’m sure he will find someone else who will love him unconditionally.
. I once read an interview where he said something to the effect of girls like him but they don’t want to be in a relationship with him.

Sounds to me like the first one is a mix of recycled quotes and poor translations, whereas the second one sounds a lot more like the things he says in many interviews. I can’t really hear his ‘voice’ in the first one. He’s totally a romantic, we’ve seen that a million times over in interviews with him and with Kristen, too, so I’m just not going to worry about that first one too much. All the translated articles we’ve seen recently have been a little suspicious, claiming to have answers to questions that they refused to address throughout all of the promotional tour, etc. so I wouldn’t worry
