Robert Pattinson Put Off By Voyeuristic Nature of Twilight Book

Robert Pattinson

Yes, Robert Pattinson has read three of the four book set — Twilight, Eclipse and New Moon (so far I haven’t read or heard anything about him finishing Breaking Dawn), but, considering his choice of reading material, with tomes from authors such as E.M. Forster and Virgil, which hint of an intellectual’s taste in books, would Robert have read the Twilight series in the first place if he weren’t up for the role of Edward Cullen? And, once having read them, would Rob have liked the Twilight series books?

Rob told Creme Magazine he was initially “put off” by Twilight’s voyeuristic nature, “I read it and I thought this is weird. It’s like Stephenie Meyer’s fantasy. It seemed like the author thought she was Bella – there are so many things about Edward’s character that was so specific. So in a lot of ways you feel very voyeuristic and that was one of the strange things which put me off it, to be honest.”

Rob would probably understand the strong sentiments of Stephen King, “Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good.”

Nevertheless, to his credit, at least Rob has read three out of the four Twilight books, while Dakota Fanning has only read one, or, rather in the process of finishing Twilight, which hints of her lukewarm reaction to the series.

Not to fear, the transition from book to script to actual film makes a huge difference. As Rob admitted, “[But] then, when I started doing the job that’s what I liked about it.”

Hi! I’m loving your blog here, but I have to point out something in this post (I would have emailed this, but I couldn’t find your email).

Actually, Rob didn’t say he didn’t like Meyer’s book, The Host. He said, “I didn’t leak it.” and was referring to the leaked copy of Midnight Sun.

As for Rob not really getting into the Twilight series, I’m not surprised. He doesn’t fit the target audience at all, lol.

Oh, my email address is in the About Me page. Thanks for the correction. My ears need cleaning. Hehe. Will edit pronto. Thanks again. :-)

Update: I’ve created a Contact Me page with my email address. Thanks for the feedback. :-)

Oh Midnight Sun I wish we could all read that. Well it’s not very surprising that he didn’t read the books until he was part of the movie…he’s not exactly the target demographic… I doubt that he would have picked up the book if he wasn’t Edward.
