Robert Pattinson Fans Pay $20,000 for a Kiss

It seems that Robert Pattinson had reason for licking his lips at the 2009 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS benefit. Entertainment Tonight reports.
The vampy leading man was auctioned off today in Cannes for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS 2009 Cocktail Party. The bidding got so high that Pattinson was split between two bidders, who each paid $20,000 for the chance to meet, greet and win a kiss on the cheek from the ‘Twilight’ idol.

We will now be watching out for the auction that will persuade the Twilight hottie out of his clothes and doing a mini-striptease. All for the benefit of charity, of course.

Just saw the auction on ET and it is real. He was great….real shy but great….he said $75 and Sharon Stone jumped it 10k immediately and then there was a bit war between two over 25k and Stone gave one to each of two bidders for 20k EACH. Yes Robert is batting it out with the big stars and though he is shy he is accepted. Wow that has had to blow his mind to the max. It is for an AIDS project. He made 40k for this project.

Hi Lorna, it’s actually 20,000 Euros or 55,000 USD each. So Rob basically raised 110,000 USD for AIDS research in under 5 minutes.
My favorite part of the clip was him saying, “And the bidding starts at 5 dollars!” Then how his eyes widened when Sharon said, “Let’s start at 10,000.” I think he got scared that nobody would bid!
I hope Kristen knows by know what a lucky girl she is.

Hi starryrae. Actually, the reports are conflicting whether it’s in dollars or euros. As of now, since ET is reporting it’s in dollars, I’ll wait for a while. Of course, much better if they were talking in euros.

Hi Lorna, Agreed – I watched the vid again and heard Sharon say “dollars” at one point. Altho I don’t know if they had prev announced that all denominations would be in Euros since they are in France after all. Whichever, it’s a ton of cash for a good cause!

I GOOFED!!!! IT WAS NOT 40000 DOLLARS BUT 40000 EUROS WHICH MEANS THAT EACH OF THE TWO KISSES COST 28000 DOLLARS = 2 PEOPLE WON BIDS SO THAT IS 56000 DOLLARS FOR AIDS PROGRAM. $56,000!

Euros go for about 1.40 now that is to say one dollar is now 1.40 Euros which means my last post correct.
Two kisses on the cheek with photo cost $28000 each = $56000.

Doesn’t matter if she slipped and said dollar it is european money. So the european paper said. Give the woman credit she is doing auction work with a bunch of rich guys and having to make it entertainment as she gets money to save lives…lives that may not be saved without this money she is trying to wrangle. Actually it was noble that Pattinson would offer something legal that they felt had a market value. Wouldn’t you for a cause that would save a life?

In general, business law requires that both parties must be agreeable to the monetary amount in any transaction, otherwise, it need not be honored.
