Robert Pattinson BFF Tom Sturridge in Pirate Radio

Here’s a little shout out for Robert Pattinson BFF Tom Sturridge for his film, The Boat That Rocked aka Pirate Radio, the premise of which is quite intriguing, based on the trailer.
In the late 1960s, American radio stations blasted rock and roll 24 hours a day. But in the home country of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, the only way 25 million people could hear their music was to tune into a boat.
Celebrated filmmaker Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones Diary, Love Actually) brings the incredible story of a band of rogue deejays who captivated British radio listeners in the 60s, playing the music that defined a generation and boldly defying the government that tried to shut them down—The Boat That Rocked.
The film is a fictitious narration that’s loosely based on the fact that during the same period in England, one can only enjoy “recorded music” for an estimated two hours per week.
And, although Tom Sturridge may not have been mentioned during the listing of a splendid cast that includes Bill Nighy and Philip Seymour Hoffman, I think it will be a momentary lapse in his career that he can always refer to with great amusement when he’s headlining some film in the future.
Although the film The Boat That Rocked has already been released in Europe, it still has to make its US debut. However, it will be renamed Pirate Radio for its US release on 06 November 2009, a couple of weeks before the New Moon US opening on 20 November 2009 .
