Robert Pattinson Admits Asking Kristen Stewart To Marry Him
Video Courtesy of MTV
Before relegating the Robert Pattinson marriage proposals to Kristen Stewart as mere urban legends, here’s an early interview where Robert Pattinson himself confirms the stories, straight out of the horse’s mouth, so to speak.
When the interviewer asked the Twilight couple on the red carpet of the MTV Awards on June 2008 whether there was “anything” between the two of them, Rob admits, “Yeah, I mean, I asked her to marry me, like, four times, but then, it didn’t go anywhere. It just fizzled out. Fizzled out.”
When the MTV reporter prodded Kristen whether she can reconsider and change her mind about the marriage proposal (FYI, Kristen’s boyfriend, Michael Angarano, is behind them, just a little bit to the side), Kristen replies, “Oh no, man, I have acquired, like, a good buddy, and that’s a big deal.” (Go to 0:41)
And, therein lies, what I believe, to be the foundation for the mountain of untruths and half-truths. Just like any person who’s facing rejection, Robert Pattinson did what a lot of human beings have done.
He tried to negate the ‘Will you marry me?’ incidents by saying in future interviews that he doesn’t remember, it’s method acting, that it must be a common thing with him because he has texts from girls asking if the wedding is pushing thru, etc.
However, this supposed behavior is so out of character for Rob, who has admitted in a Telegraph interview that in reality, “I’m a bit of a loner and not that good with dealing with loads of people. Most of the time, I feel that going out is a complete waste of time. I’d rather stay in and create something rather than go out and talk.”
My assessment? Although Rob has a charming and mischievous facet to his personality, his demeanor reveals he is not the type to flit and flirt, and throw about marriage proposals in a cavalier manner. I think Rob truly and genuinely asked Kristen to marry him, but, in the face of ridicule and humiliation regarding his noble act, he has realistically chosen to let the matter die off.

I like your assessment and it’s something i’ve thought of before… i think you’re right. In a few interviews where Kristen was asked about it, it always seemed like he didn’t ask in a joking manner… my take on it, is that he was serious but not serious… like i doubt it was a “real” proposal as in “let’s set a date”, but more of a confession of his strong feelings for her. the looks they give each other after the interview and the slight bit of nervousness also makes me think there’s more to the whole thing than meets the eye… who knows? anyway it’s fun to speculate!

Lorna, your assessment is spot on I agree with everything you said. He only started denying and saying he didn’t remember proposing to her only after the MTV interview. I guess someone must have talked to him or something because he certainly changed his tune and claimed memory loss. LOL
Jublack,
I have always suspected that too. She didn’t give the impression that it was a joke. If you remember the radio interview that they did, the host asked if Rob meant it would Kristen say yes. She never did answer the question, instead she stuttered and mumble around. Hmmm……interestingly when asked questions about each other they never denied or admit to anything instead they answer round the question which leaves us to speculate.
Keep up the great work Lorna! XOXO

I agree with you too Lorna. Rob did admit that he proposed to Kristen even when her boyfirend was standing off to the side of them during the interview. Remember, he had an interview before. I forgot with who when Rob stated “who cares about the boyfirend”. Maybe he’s tired of the rejection that Kristen is dishing out to him so she want hurt Michael’s feelings. I truly feel that she’s doing this to Rob out of guilt from hurting Michael. Not saying Michael isn’t a nice guy but she’s denying herself from her true mate.

If you read my posts linked above, you will understand what Summit did in the interest of money. These two liked each other from the start. They put them in separate hotel rooms as the producers were worried about the chemistry and that Rob would be in jail if he got involved with a 17 year old since he was 22. They did not know that Rob had said in two interviews that he was a devout Catholic, celibate and was not a player. They assumed that no body as sweet and handsome as Rob could have resisted temptation. They were wrong. He also admitted to asking her to marry “probably” and that she would say yes on BBC radio interview. It’s all linked above.
Rob was fooled by Kristen. She looked Madonna (as in Mary not the singer) with brown contacts and plain appearance for the role of Bella. He got to know her as friend and he was not shy because he was told she had a boyfriend. When she said he was handsome is when his confidence melted. He knew he could not get involved with her without marriage.
He was very attracted to her and all the erotic extra scenes that Hardwicke had them do…bite in Biology, bedroom, forest etc. made it hard for the good Catholic boy to not want to be with her. He asked her to marry him because he was raised that only in marriage can you be sexual.
Rob and Kristen were told to knock it off as the producers wanted Rob to look single and a sympathetic figure (”nobody wants to commit”). In the meantime, R & K were promoting and touring together. Kristen became more and more twitchy and odd as she wanted him big time and he made no moves. On the Twi DVD, Hardwicke made a crack about Rob not having follow through. He was too shy to pursue Kristen and as he said, once he got away from the set, it took him 2 months to get over introducing her as his fiance. They played the roles so well that they fell in love BUT neither was really themselves so they were unsure that it was real. Rob did not want to say be my girlfriend but I won’t be sexual with you until someday when I am mature enough to marry you if you are still waiting for me. Kristen is hoping that he meant what he said in June ‘08 about wanting to marry her.
The multiple fiancee thing was a cover up for the story that leaked and his own interviews about having a crush on her, that he could fall for her (Seacrest’s show) and how besotted he behaved around her. He did not know what a tough, punk she is in reality. He even said that she has an anger and toughness to her behind her quiet and is intimidating. Sometimes shy guys go for aggressive girls but they seldom go for bossy, nasty intimidating ones.
If you watch the part of the clip above in full unedited, you will see that he looks sick and forlorn over lying in this cover up staged “it did not go anywhere and fizzled out” planned comment.
Here is the link that has all the proof and videos to back up my claims.
http://igossip.com/user/Romantic_Fool/784570/gossip/latest/4 look for the video “for true romantics only” that shows the rest of the above clip that tells EVERYTHING and the post about “Robert Pattinson being dazzling inside and out” his interviews about being celibate.
At the risk of sounding silly, I believe that Robert can put the romance and love back into the idea of sex and be a role model for a decadent society that looks at sex as a body function instead of the mystical union of bodies and souls. Robert has been blessed for a reason. Perhaps our youth can embrace celibacy, manners, genteel behavior and commitment again like they did in decades past. When teens were expected to be celibate, most were. Hollywood puts drug heads, rappers, punks, thugs, abortion supporters, weirdos etc. up as role models. Enough.

If you look at the FULL interview of this interview—he looks forlorn and down cast then they exchange a meaningful look of pure lust and longing.
I was pro Kristen until I saw interviews where she used the f word and put down the fans and saw her at Comic Con interviews and at Teen Choice Awards. This girl comes off hostile, rude, twitchy, itchy, immature, insecure, dirty, punky, spaced out and not a star.
When the pics hit the internet of her in the weed bikini, bong and rolling something…I lost all respect for her. How clueless and self-destructive of her career can one be? You don’t take a role playing a wholesome beloved character and then curse, and behave as she has.
I don’t care if he likes her as a friend….just not as a girlfriend. She is trouble and is a bad influence on him. That is why Rob said he is single and free and never has been in love…he is wise and sees that she is not all that spectacular now that the infatuation has worn off.

This is my first time ever doing this. I’m a little bit computer illiterate and I don’t know some of the acronyms the net world uses. First of all, I’ve stumbled upon your site about 2 mos ago and now I can’t go a day without reading it.
I would like to respond to Romantic Fool and I believe Romantic Fool is of the female persuasion who happens to give our gender a bad name. She doesn’t like Kristen because of certain attires. mannerism and language. What a load of crap.
Rob is no saint. He drinks to excess (which I don’t have a problem with) and I’m certain he can swear a blue streak. Double standards. I love Robsten and it would make my day if they “came out,” but more importantly, I love Kristen Stewart. She is simply amazing. There are a lot of Kristen haters out there for [various] reasons. They don’t like her because of her haircut – how shallow! They make fun of her stuttering – how insensitive! You would [probably] not make good friendship material.
