Please Describe the Voice of Robert Pattinson for a Deaf Person
While perusing the comments on a ROBsessed post, I came across one that gave me pause.

To the ones who already got the movie in the mail, does it have subtitles? in English? I need the subtitles to watch the movie…(I’m deaf) so I’m not able to hear it. Too bad I can’t hear what Rob’s voice sounds like at all!
Anyway please let me know so I can order myself the movie too!!
How does one describe a voice in a way that can be imagined? Maybe through a comparison with experiences using the other senses? I don’t know…
So, I’d like to present the question, “How would you describe the different voices of Robert Pattinson?’
Here are some of the possible vocal inflections…

a difficult question. one cannot fully describe a voice that can be imagined. if he’s happy or inspired, maybe his voice can be like a gentle water flowing on your hands (like when ur lying in a boat with ur hand on the river). if he’s angry, probably his voice is like the angry waters. if he’s sad, probably it sounds like a dripping water in a still environment.

difficult indeed but lemme try… I think Rob’s voice is most often than not gentle and calm, even if he is stressed out. Maybe it’s because he’s Taurean and that’s the sign of stability and level-headedness. So I might picture it like a calm body of water, a small flowing river that soothes the eyes. And if one can smell it, it is the grass on one’s early morning walk, sweet and fresh and invigorating.

and ooh when the guy laughs, it’s like watching a wacky circus act. you can’t help but laugh with him, even if he’s being ridiculously corny. his cackle and guffaws are adorkable and infectious.

Hey Lorna and everyone…
Since it’s describing to deaf people. I’ll make this general. Minus the ‘hearing’ sense:
1. Sight. His voice is like the serene green valley you see in Windows XP wallpapers.
2. Taste. Like the Starburst “Get your juices going!” lollipop sucker we often see KS suckles.

3. Smell. Like AXE Chocolate, he has the ‘dark temptation’ smell that ‘invites’ every single female wants to bite.
4. Feel. Like the warm, soft, snuggly blanket your mom has just washed using Snuggle fabric softener.
5. Sixth. If you’re the sort of indigo kid that Haley Joel Osment was in Sixth Sense, just leave your telepathic link and I’ll send you what his voice is like.
See ya everyone.
Keep it up, Lorna.
PS: Should I pay royalties to those brands, or should they?

Hey bbonin,
I’m Deaf too though mainstreamed and still cating up on my sign language these days LOL
The DVD for twilight does indeed have subtitles but sadly the 2nd DVD (interviews with cast and crew ect) does NOT very very annoying. Currently trying to find a contact with the producers of New Moon to make sure the same mistake is not made again!
Describing Robert’s voice….hmm let me see
Have you read the books? Stephanie is very descriptive of how Edward speaks when hes angry, sad, happy etc and its a good starting point as I think the Edward in the films is VERY close to the books in terms of body language and speech (inflections and all)
Its a hard accent to describe as the character was born in the early 1900’s and does not thave the same American accent that you would find in the USA now ie New York twang or Southern drawl.
Its a clipped and almost formal speaking voice think of the most uptight person you know and that’s what Edward ’sounds’ like.
As for Roberts own accent, he’s born and reared in London so typical London accent…private school posh & clear pronunciation and an actual joy for those of us who lip-read very easy to follow phonetically spoken.
Would love to her him attempt an Irish lilt (hey I get homesick a lot) but that said check out http://www.youtube.com for clips of Robert singing sounding very much like Van Morrison LOL
Hope the above is of some help

His smile and his voice together is like when someone lightly breathes or brushes you underneath your earlobe. Together they make you melt
