SEQ 01. INT. Bella’s Bedroom. Bella is in front of the mirror staring at her own image. Edward enters the bedroom, and kisses her gently. As they kiss, Bella ages until she turns to dust, which is blown away by the wind.
BELLA VO (Voice Over)
I’m not afraid of getting older. I’m just scared of losing Edward. I want to be with him forever.
SEQ 02. INT. Cullen’s Dining Room. The room is decorated profusely with pink flowers and candles. The Cullens are gathered around the birthday cake with the number 18 on top.
ALICE
(holding camera) Smile, Bella! It’s your 18th birthday!
BELLA
Alice, I wish you didn’t–ALICE
(deliberately misunderstanding) You wish for presents? Oh, we have some presents for you too, but you can only open them after blowing out the candles.EDWARD
Please humor her, Bella. Besides, you should be thankful I stopped Alice from ordering a tent, balloons, an orchestra, and a DANCE floor…BELLA
Alice, you wouldn’t do that to me!ESME
Edward baked the birthday cake!EMMETT
Baking and cooking…
Emmett rolls his eyes and then grabs Edward in a mock wrestling hold.
EMMETT
How about a little wrestling match with me tomorrow, bro?EDWARD
(laughs) You know I’ll win.EMMETT
‘Cause you read my mind before I can make my fancy moves. Cheater, cheater…ESME
Boys, please behave.CARLISLE
Bella, it would please us very much if we could celebrate this special occasion with you. The last time we had a birthday party was way back in 1935 for Emmett; but, if you would rather not, that would be perfectly fine as well.BELLA
Of course, I’d love to. You’re like family to me.
As she leans forward, she stumbles. Edward saves her from landing face down on the cake. Embarrassed, Bella blows out the candles.
EDWARD
Happy 18th birthday, my love.
Edward kisses Bella.
BELLA
I hate the fact that I’m one year older than you are.EDWARD
But, in reality, I’m decades older than you are.BELLA
Yeah, any human I know who knows that?ALICE
Time to open presents!BELLA
(sees the gifts) Oh no, no, no… I don’t want any one spending money on me!ESME
But it gives us so much joy, Bella.ALICE
Stop spoiling our fun.EMMETT
C’mon, birthday girl! Open our gift first! Go on, pull the ribbon! It’s a radio / CD player for your truck! But it’s not really there ‘coz I already installed it in your beat up Chevy when you weren’t looking.ALL (adlib)
Emmett!
There he goes again.
Can’t you keep a secret?EDWARD
You might as well tell her my gift is inside the CD player. (to Bella) As instructed, I did not spend any cent.EMMETT
What? It’s the thought that counts. Pull, pull, pull!ALL
Pull, pull, pull!
Bella pulls and gets a paper cut.
BELLA
Shoot.EDWARD
No, Jasper!!!
Edward and Jasper collide and knock Bella onto the glass plates, scattering glass and flower petals, while she cuts herself again. Emmett grabs Jasper while Edward goes into a defensive crouch in front of Bella.
CARLISLE
Emmett! Edward! Please bring Jasper outside. Esme, Alice and Rosalie, please stay in the other room while I take care of Bella.
Carlisle stops the bleeding and starts removing glass splinters from Bella’s arm.
ROSALIE
Good thing I didn’t get you a birthday gift. Who knows what would have happened?CARLISLE
Rosalie, that’s enough. Bella is our guest.
SEQ 03. INT. Swan’s Kitchen. Charlie is eating something obviously not edible. Edward and Bella enter. Bella goes to clear his plate.
CHARLIE
Happy Birth —
Charlie sees her bandaged arm.
CHARLIE
Bells! What happened? Are you okay? (to Edward) I thought you were going to keep my daughter safe.EDWARD
I’m sorry, sir. It’s my fault.BELLA
No! It was just a stupid accident.CHARLIE
I don’t care whose fault it is. (to Bella) If you’re with him, I expect him to bring you back WITHOUT a scratch. (to Edward) So far, your track record hasn’t been so good. Just recently, she’s gone through a window and broken her leg, which got her hospitalized; and now, as a birthday present, she gets cut badly enough that she requires stitching from a doctor. (holds up three fingers) That’s three strikes. Consider yourself out of the g–BELLA
Dad, please. It was my fault. I tripped and landed on some glass. Besides, Carlisle sews faster than any doctor I’ve had. It’s no big deal. You know I’m so accident-prone.CHARLIE
(controls himself and changes the subject) So how was the birthday party?BELLA
Alice went overboard. Flowers, cake, candles, presents — the whole bit.CHARLIE
Wow. Where’s the camera I got for you?BELLA
Here. Plus I got some other gifts I haven’t opened yet. (Edward shows them to Charlie)CHARLIE
That’s really nice of the Cullens. (asks Edward pointedly) Won’t Carlisle be looking for you?BELLA
Dad. Edward and I have to watch Romeo and Juliet for our English paper.CHARLIE
Okay, okay. (to Edward) I’ve got my eye on you. Both of them.BELLA
(rolls her eyes and gives him a little push) Goodnight, Dad.EDWARD
Goodnight, Chief Swan.
SEQ . EXT. Forks sky. The moon is nearly in the new moon phase.
SEQ 04. INT. Charlie’s Bedroom. Charlie is asleep and snoring.
SEQ 05. INT. Swan’s Living Room. Edward and Bella are separately seated on the couch while watching Romeo and Juliet. Bella is half-asleep and falls to the side almost hitting her head on the side table. Edward catches her automatically, brings her to his side while still absorbed with the film.
ROMEO / EDWARD
(Edward says the lines along with Romeo)
Ha, banishment! be merciful, say ‘death;’
For exile hath more terror in his look,
Much more than death: do not say ‘banishment.’
‘Tis torture, and not mercy: heaven is here,
Where Juliet lives; and every cat and dog
And little mouse, every unworthy thing,

It’s good so far! can’t wait till it comes out! But what is Jacob doing at the end?… isn’t he suppost to be Sam instead? thats whats in the book!!!! and I hope they include how depressed Bella gets! too

Thanks, Toni! And yes, I’ve heard the rumor, but I don’t understand the logic.
As I commented somewhere — There’s so many CG and simple ways to get around whatever physical requirements are needed for Jacob in New Moon.
Something as simple as standing on apple boxes can make Taylor seem taller, or a camera angle would do it as well or a body double for physical closeups.
Lord Of The Rings did it successfully. And they had to contend with height and size disparity between hobbits and humans. Much more complicated, in my opinion.
And, the fact that Taylor Lautner looks young is an advantage. Jacob is really supposed to be younger than Bella. It’s perfect that Taylor is of the same age. As Stephenie Meyer describes Jacob, he is supposed to look youthful, just that his body is more developed and advanced for his normal age.
Can you tell I’m on Team Taylor? LOL. I thought he did a fantastic job on Twilight and there’s exciting enmity between his character and Edward. He and Robert have chemistry too, just the testosterone type.

This is all wrong!!! Sam is the one to find Bella in the meadow!! And Edward tells Bella he’s leaving her in the meadow!!! That’s when she falls asleep and Sam finds her!!!

This is great really, but I hope they have Edward tell Bella in the meadow. Then I’m fine with Jacob finding her instead of Sam. I hope with new moon they find a way to show Edward when he’s away from Bella, how he feels and what he’s going through as well as Bella’s depression.
I also really want to see the conflict between Edward and Jacob in the end.

Looking good so far, altho I was so dissatisfied with Twilight the movie (story elements & direction) that I sort of want them to do a quick Twilight recap at the start of New Moon to make sure the important elements are covered. (Similar to how they covered plot of “The Hobbit” in the first LOTR movie.) The importance of the “meadow scene” for one, needs to be established as it sets the stage for the scene with Laurent & the werewolves and Bella finding out from Laurent that Victoria is after her.
Also allows for more Edward Cullen screen time.
Altho I agree that we need to miss Edward in New Moon as that is the point of the story. I do want them to cover the Italy segment extensively tho — the Volturi/Italy part of the book was quite exciting & interesting for me.

Actually, it was also my dissatisfaction with the slow pacing, lack of action scenes, etc. of Twilight that made me start writing this New Moon script. *hint* I’ll be using the meadow location for another objective to clearly show a change in Bella. Still scribbling on Part 3.
And, I have ideas about how to flesh out the Volturi scenes that I think would be visually exciting, which will be Part 4.

Wow, I just had to post. Even though it does not completely follow New Moon it still had everything it needed in there. I see where your going by skipping less intense parts and adding to the story to make it more intense. It was really good. Great job, I think this would make an awesome script for New Moon, I really hope they do something along the lines of what you did.

Taylor Lautner fits perfect as Jacob Black, especially in this book. I can imagine him saying & doing all this. I can’t wait & i’m glad that Chris Weitz & Melissa are trying the hardest to stay close with the book. It’s hard to fit it in a 2 hr movie. I hope Robert is still in this too. No one should be replaced, no matter how hot the replacement can be.

I really like what youve written so far, and i like some of the changes you’ve made. However, I really think that the parting scene should be in the woods, like the author originally intended, then Bella should wander from there. I also think that we shouldnt know about why or how the Cullens left until the very end, to build drama. It will make people think he really didn’t want her. I hope you will keep Edward in the script somehow!

You are changing some characters much more than they are allowed to be, due to the story. Rosalie, who is the only character of the Cullen family who is not complete in the book,and the only Cullen who is bad and selfish and annoying, and you are making her even worse. I think that her personality should be better described, and let her improve as the time passes, let people see her reasons, at least to feel that there is something behind her bad behavior. And so, I think that Aro should never reveal his true thoughts and he should maintain the good cop in the story, like Caius should be the bad cop, and Marcus the utterly bored one. Also Jacob must not ever kiss Bella, and she should remain faithful to her true love, without compromises (they are just her thoughts , when she’s afraid of loosing Jacob). And of course Bella shouldn’t be aware of the fact that Edward loves her until the moment they meet again. New Moon is a sad part of her life, and Bella’s pain gives it beauty. If you change the anticipation of Edwards coming back and question of his love toward Bella, there won’t be such a great comeback. Audience should feel her pain, and see her doubts, because things would never have happened like that if she new all along.

i honestly think that someone actually DID go through the trouble of writing a 105 page script. it sounds fake and doesn’t seem at all like the script melissa rosenburg wrote for twilight. i’m very skeptical.

If this is the script then it must be an early draft. Peter was at the Twi convention in LA on Sunday and he said that Carlisle and Emmett are both holding Jasper back from attacking Bella. He said it was going to look great because Jackson really got into it. Also, he said the scene with Carlisle stitching up Bella was one of his favorites and it’s not in this version. I’m not buying this is the final script.

I really doubt this is the real thing, it is too random. The writing doesnt flow like a real conversation would. Even if this was in any way being used for the movie it needs a lot of work to make it right.

I think this movie will be better then Twilight but i don’t think it will be very good. I wanted the love scenes, like where Edward asks Bella to marry him and she says yes and where bella doesn’t believe that she is awake and Edward has to prove to her that she is. I want all those scenes in the movie. Nonetheless i am going to see the movie. The Twilight series is my life… please start adding more love scenes in the 3rd movie because that one is my favorite book because it is all about love and the marriage!!! So please try to incorporate more of that!

I’m sorry after reading that I had to say something. I hope and pray that wasn’t even close to the actual script they are using. The entire thing is written backwards. Romeo & Juliet are before the party and it wouldn’t make sense for them to be all close and happy if the scene is after the party which causes the whole mess that makes him leave her. I mean it’s cute, but not accurate enough to the point that it almost doesn’t make sense. Sorry if this came off harsh.

I think the new moon movie will be really good.New moon wasn’t my fave book of the series because edward wasn’t in the book that much and i Like the books most because of the chesmestry between bella and edward their love and passion for each other and this time with the book new moon they didn’t have so much of that.I just hope that the movie will be better than the book and show more of edward then the book does and tell what he is going through and how he is dealing with it. I can’t wait 4 the movie it will be near my b-day my b-day is november 18th so my parents r taking me to go see it a a b-day gift yay!

I am so insane about Twilight and New Moon every time I talk about it I feel really happy!!! I have seen Twilight 14 times and at the moment I am reading the Twilight book and I am so close to finishing it because it is a very addictive book because once you start you can’t stop. I want to go see New Moon at the cinemas again but my Mum keeps on saying no I don’t know why because she said that she really enjoyed it. I can’t wait till New Moon comes out on DVD, Eclipse comes out in the cinemas, Eclipse comes out on DVD, Breaking Dawn comes out on cinemas and last but not least Breking Dawn comes out on DVD.
