New Moon Unofficial Film Script — Romeo Must Not Die (Part 4)

Aro suddenly turns to Marcus and Caius.

ARO
Marcus! Caius! I have a wonderful idea! I haven’t seen a prospective talent so promising since we found Jane and Alec. Shall I invite Bella to be one of us?

Without waiting for an answer, Aro turns back to Bella.

ARO
My dear Bella, since Edward is unwilling, shall I give you the immortality that you long for? You shall be free to go afterwards, of course, but, we would be utterly delighted if you decide to join our company.

Bella is totally confused and terrified. Alice steps forward with her hand raised. Aro eagerly takes her hand, and then laughs in delight at the images, especially the vampire version of Bella who is shown tracking and then attacking a hunter in the woods. As she bites his neck, her eyes are clearly tinted with red.

ARO
That was fascinating! To see the things that you’ve seen– especially the ones that haven’t happened yet!

ALICE
But that will.

ARO
Yes, yes, it’s quite determined. Alec, that will be all, thank you.

The mist disappears. Edward and Jasper are immediately beside Bella and Alice.

EDWARD
Then we are free to go now?

ARO
Yes, yes. But please visit again. It’s been absolutely enthralling!

CAIUS
And we will visit you as well. Were I you, I would not delay too long. We do not offer second chances.

The sounds of an excited group can be heard approaching the doors.

CAIUS
I think it would be best if you leave now. Accidents do happen.

EDWARD
We shall follow your advice.

ARO
Goodbye, young friends. And, remember, we would always consider you as excellent additions to our elite company. Send my regards to Carlisle.

Edward nods tightly. The doors open to let a whole group of tourists come in. The attention of the Volturi court of vampires is diverted towards their prey.

ARO
Welcome, guests! Welcome to Volterra!

SEQ . INT. Volturi Court Hallway. Edward and company hurriedly walk away from the closed court doors, but they cannot escape the sound of terrified screams.

SEQ. INT. Private plane interiors. Bella is wide awake on Edward’s lap, who cannot let go of her, and is continuously kissing her hair, forehead, etc., but never the lips.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT
Sir, is she all right? Does she need to go to a hospital?

Edward ignores the FA. Jasper responds to avoid any delay.

JASPER
(soothingly) No, she’s just very tired. Thank you.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT
Sir, she has to wear the seat belt or we can’t take off.

Edward puts the seat belt on both of them.

JASPER
Could you let this be an exception? They’re newlyweds. Just coming home from the honeymoon.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT
Sir, it’s against regulation.

Jasper uses his talent for persuasion. The FA’s stern face relaxes.

FLIGHT ATTENDANT
Yes, of course, it’s alright.

JASPER
Thank you for understanding.

SEQ, INT. Airport. Early evening. The rest of the Cullen family members are waiting at the gates. Esme hugs Edward fiercely. Since he can’t let go of Bella, she’s included in the tight embrace.

ESME
Don’t do that to me ever again!

EDWARD
Yes, mom.

ESME
(fervently) And, thank you, Bella.

Esme hugs Alice and Jasper next. Carlisle gives Edward a wordless hug. Rosalie approaches tentatively.

ROSALIE
I can’t lose Emmett, Edward. I just can’t. I’m sorry.

Behind her, Emmett makes a face at Edward asking him to please forgive Rosalie. Edward gives a curt nod.

ROSALIE
(sincerely) I’m sorry, Bella.

BELLA
It’s alright. I understand.

Edward kisses the top of Bella’s head.

BELLA
Carlisle, can we please have a meeting with everybody present?

CARLISLE
Of course, Bella. And, Charlie has been so worried about you for the past three days.

SEQ. INT. Cullens Dining Room. Evening. Bella is seated at the head of the table. The rest of the Cullens are seated on the remaining chairs.

ALICE
Yes.

JASPER
Yes.

EMMETT
Hell, yeah.

ROSALIE
No.

ESME
Yes.

CARLISLE
Edward, it’s almost been a century that you’ve been alone. You have changed in so many ways since you’ve found Bella. Before, our only fear was losing her, but, now that you have chosen not to live without her… I’m sorry, Edward. You give me no choice. (to Bella) Would after your graduation be convenient for you?

EDWARD
NO!!!

ESME
Edward, please.

BELLA
(to Carlisle) Yes. Thank you.

EDWARD
Alright.

Edward grabs Bella into an embrace, and arches her back until her neck is exposed.

EDWARD
I will bite you myself. On one condition.

BELLA
(warily) What?

EDWARD
Marry me.

Bella is dumbstruck and then recovers by going out of Edward’s arms.

BELLA
No!

ALICE
(excitedly) Oh, we’re going to have a wedding! I have the perfect gown!

ESME
You’ll make such a lovely bride! I can finally use all the fine china!

Emmett picks up Bella.

EMMETT
Welcome to the family! (laughs)

Edward smiles smugly at Bella’s horrified face as Emmett twirls her in a circle.

Well done! It will be fun to compare your’s to the finished product. I think it’s an interesting treatment as a whole. I can’t complain about having more Jasper. Did I miss Victoria in the end with the exception of E and J alluding to her? I need to go back and read again.

I heard tales of a late rewrite by Melissa. May be she’s seen this one, eh? LOL…

I’ve linked in my blog like the other parts–links only.

  • twilight Says:

Thanks, Shannon! I love the Alice — Jasper tandem, and I also gave emphasis to the Rosalie — Emmett union for the true love theme.

Re Victoria, she ran off when she heard Jacob coming up the cliffs, but, when she caught the unexpected scent of Alice, she decided to cut her losses for the moment. So, yes, she’s only mentioned by Edward and Jasper in the end.

    Thanks for the links! :-D

  • Amanda Fleming Says:

This is wonderful! I started reading it when you only had one part up on the web and I came back and read the finished script. This is great and I like how you added some parts, that weren’t necessarily written in the book, to enhance some of the characters bonds. Well done!

  • twilight Says:

Wow! That’s a lot of reading, Amanda. Thanks for coming back and checking out the rest of the script. Thanks for appreciating the new scenes, and thank you for the kind words. :-)

  • sheryll Says:

cute script!!! totally enjoyed watching it. i hope that the movie is similar to yours! =)

i hope you do eclipse and breaking dawn…

  • twilight Says:

Thanks, Sheryll. I just finished reading Eclipse again in preparation to writing the script. I’ll finish till Breaking Dawn. ;-) No promises as to when though. Thanks for understanding. :-)

  • Joanna Says:

You know where I can get the official script for New Moon?

  • Joanna Says:

Please, I want this so much.

    Thanks

  • twilight Says:

Hi Joanna. I’m sorry but I have no access to the Melissa Rosenberg script. And, I think someone would lose his job if that script ever got leaked out. Thanks for understanding.

  • Joanna Says:

    ahhh, it’s ok
    thanks anyway

  • Joanna Says:

But you have some idea if it will look like yours? :)

    Sorry for being hamper

  • twilight Says:

Hi Joanna. Let me just clarify that, as stated above, “The Twilight saga is owned and created by Stephenie Meyer, Little, Brown and Company and Summit Entertainment. This site and its content are in no way affiliated or associated with and/or or it’s respective companies.”

Having said that, let me just share a couple of facts. In a recent Melissa Rosenberg interview, she has said, “But at the moment, the part of Leah doesn’t happen until the third movie.”

Leah Clearwater appears in this unofficial script.

Aside from that, I’m sure there are more differences. Like, I’m guessing that since Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper, is shooting The Last Airbender this year, he’s probably not included in the Volturi scenes, but, he is in this unofficial version.

My guess is the similarity will be the device to bring Edward as a visual instead of an audio hallucination.

One of my objectives in writing the script is expanding the mind set of the Twilighters regarding the realm of possibilities that can be done for the film medium. Thanks for understanding.

  • Joanna Says:

    Thank you

  • aryasarwen Says:

That was sooooo good (I cried a little), some of my favorite parts were cut out but you did a good job. Thanks!

  • twilight Says:

Oh, I’m sorry you cried, but, I’m also glad you got affected. Thanks so much for reading the script! :-D

  • twilghtobsessed Says:

this script is not like the book at all. i dont like it

  • twilight Says:

Yes, it is not like the book at all. As I wrote in my notes above:

This script version is my attempt to reconcile the literary world with the more visual medium of film. Just like in the Lord of the Rings, changes will be made to accommodate a driven story line, time constraints, and attention to character development.

Although this script is based on the Twilight saga, it will be faithful to the spirit of the books, but, not necessarily be faithful in every way as to how it’s presented in the books per se.

    Thank you for reading. :-)

  • angel Says:

its so good i watched twilight a lot but the sixth part …it’s so sad

  • melissa Says:

i think Rob should pull some strings and get his sis lizzy pattinson on the soundtrack for her song — cold as ice—- listen to it on her myspace page , its pretty good.

  • twilight Says:

Hi Melissa. That sounds cool. Can you please go to this post:
Request for a Robert Pattinson — Kristen Stewart Duet in the New Moon Soundtrack

And then can you please leave a link to the MySpace site of Lizzy Pattinson ?

    Thanks! :-)

  • twilight4ever Says:

i like it but the ONE i didn’T like is The kiss with jacob cause she DIDN’T kiss him at all!

this script is good but i hate the kissing with jacob!

  • Kendall Says:

she actually does kiss him just not in the second book O_o i think it adds some flavor… it’s funny when alice comes back and is like “JESUS CHRIST BELLA LETS GOOOO!” or something along that tenor of thought ;]

  • twilight Says:

Thanks for appreciating the changes, Kendall! :-D

  • bwawey Says:

wow!superb!i haven’t read the books yet coz am waiting for RPatzz and KStew to become a couple before i’ll read the books.he,he(lol) but i really love what you are writing here.it’s great!more!more!

  • twilight Says:

    Thanks bwawey and Shyphoe!

Thanks for being open rahnezmey. :-)

  • Robsessed Says:

I began to cry as edward stated that he did not want her anymore and as her heart was ripped and yet she still felt passion and love for him aswell as he did for her… I also read the books and newmoon does not compare much to your version though i read your version three tomes it was incredeble iloved it thanks for taking your time to satsfiy us twilighters

  • Robsessed Says:

Again i apoligize for the improper gramar and spelling imeant to say time instead of tome and i also cried when i read the book alot i couldnt stop

  • lila 999 Says:

it was beatif eny it alot i love it srry icant write correct mouse is wear

  • alicia Says:

what jasper said was SOOOO SWEEET.its such a tear jerker

  • margie Says:

very good but to be honest its different but a good different

  • H.E.S Says:

i think it is ok it is very different from the book. there was a lot of stuff added like the play at her school. i will go and see the movie still but i dont know if i will be happy if this is the real script. i cant wait for the movie or just the first scene to come out.

  • lizzy Says:

omg i think you should write the script this is such an amazing attempt i think you are a true movie genius…no bluff.

  • new author Says:

I’ve always had a problem with the last fight scene in ‘Twilight’ because, even Jasper, with all his experience, couldn’t take on Edward with his mind reading ability, yet James was able to.

With Alice and Edward’s abilities combined, wouldn’t the Volturi have a hard time with them? Wouldn’t Alice been able to dodge the small vamps (like in New Moon with the newborns) or Edward see them coming (by reading someone’s mind that they were about to be unleashed)?

Just wondering. The script is very professional and I did enjoy this stronger version of Bella.

  • twilight Says:

Thanks, new author. I based the fact they were “beaten” on sheer number and more experienced group of fighters.

They definitely have an advantage, but, even with their abilities, the three of them cannot over power a whole group of “military” vampires who are used to fighting and eradicating experienced vampires, such as the wars over the vampire children that were mentioned in Breaking Dawn.

As Jasper also observes, newborns are easier to defeat because they are predictable. I’ve created a scenario wherein this is not the case.

Thanks again for reading the script! :-)

  • Jennifer Says:

that was pretty good..the only downside was the fact that you used some of the words from eclipse and the fact that Jacob wasnt suppose to kiss bella and the marrage stuff wasnt suppose to happen until elcipse… but still it was pretty good.

  • Twi-lover Says:

It’s cool :D Eddie’s guilt in the end wasn’t just enough. I love when Ed feels so guilty and all. Dunno why.

  • Twi-lover Says:

Oh, and that marriage stuff doesn’t happen until Eclipse. Otherwise the script is good.

  • Twilight Fanpire Says:

1 word…W-O-W! Amazing job! Is this the real new moon script or just a made up one?

  • twilight Says:

Totally made up one, Twilight Fanpire. :-)

  • Sophie! Says:

Wow! YOu are genius! I love it! Good idea about having the New Moon flowers and how it means true love and forgiveness. I also love how when in Rom and Jul, Edward also says the bits about marriage. But doesn’t Edward propose to Bella in Eclipse? I adore your script. It is very very cool. It was good of you to have Bella take of the jacket so Jacob and the werewolves stay protected. I hope that the official script has some of your ideas!
I can’t wait to read your scripte for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

  • Anatrk Says:

I think that it’s so cool how you came up with your own changes to the story. After a while, the original gets predictable but u added a twist to it. Thanx!

  • twilight Says:

Thanks for appreciating the changes, Anatrk! :-)

  • Ismary1216 edward's lvr Says:

love the whole thing, you have such a great imagination!
i love it especially the white and red tulips thing. maybe, like they did in the Twilight movie, they’ll add the tulips. because in the cafeteria, bella drops an apple and edward grabs it like in the front cover.

cant wait for New Moon on November 21!!!!

  • Ismary1216 edward's lvr Says:

response to- Twi-lover’s comment on edward’s marrige proposal in new moon/eclipse

well, yes, edward does propose to bella in eclipse, but if i may recall, in New Moon after the voting part happened, edward said
“If you could have anything in the world, anything at all, what would it be?”
bella says you then edward says something she doesnt have then bella says
“I wish it weren’t calisle that had to change me i wish it would be you.”
so then edward and bella begin to negotiate this and at last edward says
“Well, if you want me to be the one, you’ll have to meet my condition.”
    “What condition?” bella asks
    “Marry me first.”
and then bella thinks its a joke while she’s ‘wounding his ego’
    so, get it?
i might not have done the conversation perfecty because i did it out of my head
    :D

  • twilight Says:

    Thanks so much, Ismary1216 edward’s lvr! :-D

  • John Says:

I think that you have some great ideas and that your script was brilliant. The only 2 things are that the marriage detail doesn’t really happen till eclipse and that the scimitars wouldn’t have been able to even scratch a vampire’s skin.
(The only thing that can tear a vampire’s skin is a vampire’s or werewolfs’s teeth.)

  • katelyn Says:

That was great!! I loved the adding jasper . If the movie script is anything like that,it’ll be a great movie!!!

  • kelsey Says:

This wasn’t the real script was it? I feeel super bad for reading it now…. lol

  • twilight Says:

No need to feel bad, Kelsey. It’s NOT the film script. :-) That is truly confidential!

  • Jen Says:

very interesting adaptation on the book/movie…this must have taken you awhile to make up!

  • twilight Says:

Thanks, Jen! Roughly it took me about six weeks to finish the New Moon script, if I remember correctly… Not too sure anymore… But there was a lot of conceptualizing and outlining before the actual writing… That took just as long if not longer… :)

  • Edward Obsessed Says:

    Hi,
I forgot to ask, but who the heck is Mark?
Wasnt jessica dating Mike? And then TONS of times it says someone named mark.

  • Crazed twilight fan Says:

WOW!!!!!! You have got TALENT!!! I’m going to TRY to drop links at popular websites to get people to look at this! And HOPEFULLY kristin, rob, or the director for new moon will see it and put your ideas into the movie!!!!!!!! ;)

  • Team Edward Says:

Wow that was brilliant, even better than the book in my opinion. You showed more Edward when he wasent with Bella which was fantastic and you get to see the realationship between Emmet and Rosalie. Truly you should right your own books becaus ethis was way more interesting and exciting.

    Well Done,

There is definetly a carrer in writing for u!

    Team Edwardxxxx

  • twilight Says:

Thank you very much Team Edward! :)

  • Courtney Says:

    Aw!
I think Edward & Bella should have kissed when it said “For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.”
    :’]
    :D

  • karim Says:

Love the script! It helps to calm the edge of waitting for the movie to be released. I read the other posts, and I don’t know if you’re aware, but a script of new moon was leacked on twitter and even though the site removed it, it was too little too late. I know of like 50 different pages where you can find the script. No one knows if it’s the real deal, but many, including me, believe it is because of it’s lenght and the fact that they tried to contain the leak as soon as they became aware of it.

  • twilight Says:

Thank you, karim! Please keep the real script secret… :)

  • NewMOONfan! Says:

This is all made up, most of the lines were just copied frm the book, and other were just made up! This is not even the real script! This is a lie! This is sooooo not the script for New Moon!! :@

  • Foxxx Talltrees Says:

Brilliant!! I loved it more than the book (my fav-mainly b/c of the wolves).I only didn’t want her to kiss Jacob b/c it changes the dynamic of book 3, otherwise it was awesome. Romantic & exciting. I loved that u had Victoria kill Harry Clearwater. It really allows the wolves involvement to be more appreciated. You are really talented. Hope your efforts get recognized by the right people.

  • twilight Says:

Thank you very much for the appreciative words, Foxxx Talltrees! :)

  • Kstewfan4eva Says:

That wuz effin awesome lorna!!!!!!!! You are a very talented writer who shuld write a book!!!!! Just fantatstic!!! I love how u have jasper go to Voltera to protect Alice!!!!!!! So sweet and cute!!

  • lauren Says:

i loveed it i couldnt stop reading it was different, but a good different keep up the good work=] i hope you make more scripts i would be delighted to read them.

  • lauren Says:

i loveed it i couldnt stop reading it was different, but a good different keep up the good work=] i hope you make more scripts i would be delighted to read them. thankz

  • Melinda Says:

This was amazing! I didn’t intend on reading the whole thing. I was just checking it out for a second…then I found myself reading every line, and I might add that you kept me at the edge of my seat!! Bravo!! Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. Keep up the good work :)

  • Elenor Says:

Wow, this is really great. Better than original script. I love the idea of Jasper being in Volterra. It would be so perfect if this was the real screenplay… But still I am happy enough I´ve read it. I can always imagine it…
Thank you very much, this is really worth reading!

  • Nikole Says:

wow this is amazing…i was just wondering in another chanpter could you maybe put more of jacob in it (:

  • The Vamire Lizzy Christ Says:

Not bad, I believe your dialogue is actually better than the Twilight Movie dialogue. A little more grown up actually! :)
    The Vampire Lizzy Christ
(Yes I am a real Vampire)
