Singer and Recipient I imagine this would be what Kristen Stewart wanted to shout out to the whole world when her boyfriend, whose existence everyone has been doubting, went to visit her during one of Vancouver’s busiest weekends — the Juno Awards and all its related events on 28-29 March 2009.
My Girlfriend Lives In Canada For those who are not familiar with the statement ‘My girlfriend lives in Canada,’ let me assure you that it is not an aspersion about living in Canada, but refers to the lie someone says about a made up significant other. Here’s a sample conversation from Wikipedia on how one can use the sentence (usually applicable in an American setting).
Student 1: So, I heard you have a new girlfriend!
Student 2: Yeah, she’s really great.
Student 1: So when do I get to meet this great lady?
Student 2 (nervously): Oh, well, you wouldn’t know her…
Student 1: Why wouldn’t I know her?
Student 2: Well, she’s not from around here, she’s from another school!
Student 1: Where’s she from?
Student 2 (sudden brainstorm): Canada!! She lives in Canada!
An Age Old Technique And, let’s face it. Everyone is familiar with the strategy of parading a significant other to dispel any rumors, and everyone understood instinctively the silent shout of Kristen Stewart’s actions that weekend.
Vancouver Is IN Canada I don’t know why, but it just suddenly occurred to me last night, 11 April 2009, that the phrase ‘My girlfriend lives in Canada’ is so apt for the Kristen Stewart and Michael Angarano situation; and, what made me giggle even harder is the fact that it happened in Vancouver, which happens to be in Canada! Is that hilarious or what? HARHARHAR!!!
And, this would be a little bit apropos to Kristen’s infamous geographic gaff at the David Letterman show regarding driving to Russia from either London England or Berlin Germany. (go to 4:38)

Thanks for asking the question, Unhinged. Basing it on her character, yes, I think Kristen is still telling herself that Rob and she are just friends and colleagues. Nothing more.
Subconsciously, she knows the truth, but she hasn’t admitted it to herself consciously. People do like to think a certain “truth” about themselves in order to exist or they’ll be driven to a certain level of “insanity.”
Kristen is a loyal and honest person. She will not cheat on her boyfriend.
Rob is also a loyal and honest person. He will not hook up with somebody who has a boyfriend.
These two will not get involved in an affair behind Michael’s back.
Kristen just strongly announced that she is still with Michael two weeks ago, but, a lot of people choose to ignore it and believe their own truth. If it makes them happy and keeps their mental happiness also intact, then it’s better for them to do so.
I’m choosing to focus on just Rob and Kristen, who, I think, are two strong willed individuals who will not let their personal lives be dictated. They will listen to advice, but, will still do what they want, especially when it comes to the personal part, because that would be sacrosanct to them.

wow..LORNA..we are not the only people who wants them together..
i think thousands of people out there want to see that too..
but i think..as a smart girl..kristen will think deeply what will happen if she is wit rob..they both are center of attentions now..its not good..especially when obviously kristen hates attention..

Great, well-thought-out response! And it makes more sense, not to mention it seems the most realistic, than any other “theory” I’ve read.
It’s going to be interesting to see how things turn out for Rob and Kristen (and Michael) years from now. I still believe there has to be something more than just loyalty that keeps Kristen with Michael.
But if I was in either Rob or Kristen’s shoes, I definitely would NOT want to enter into a relationship with the other. It would be too much pressure on so many levels. I can’t imagine how to handle that as an adult, let alone as a 19-year-old girl.
