Lorna Lopez aka ATwilightKiss Notes I received an email from Betti Gefecht on 25 May 2009 5.27am Manila Philippines time with a link to a music video that she made entitled One Wolf (Jacob’s Song).
I was immediately struck by the tribal percussion that echoed the Quilete ancestry, as well as the poignant notes that evoked the trees, the air and the throbbing lope of a lone wolf in search of burning answers before he can rejoin the pack.
ATwilightKiss Interviews Betti Gefecht For fun, I emailed Betti some questions that she gamely replied to.
ATK: Are you an aspiring songwriter/singer?
…uhm – not really. I’ve been working as a musician for several years now.
Records, TV, radio, touring… been there, done that.
Of course, restricted to my home country Germany.
Which means, I’m not famous, I guess…
But one could say, I am an aspiring Twilighter!ATK: Are you for Team Jacob?
Only in the way that I think he’s been a little left out
(which is slowly starting to change now with the New Moon mania rising).
But it’s a little weird with me anyway: when I read the books, though I am female, I tended to identify with Edward (strange, isn’t it?). And from that p.o.v., there goes the team question…ATK: What inspired you to write the song?
Romantic overkill!
I had to do SOMETHING to get rid of my Twilight obsession.
Writing the song helped.
A little.
I think.
Or not?ATK: What kind of computer application did you use for the animation?
As I said: handmade. Pic by pic.
I work with a mac.
I used Photoshop to draw and/or manipulate the images.
MANY images!!!!
I loaded them one by one into a standard program that allows to create slide shows and underlay them with sound like mp3 or aiff data. This way I got them into a certain sequence.
At last I converted the whole work into a mp4 with a free tool called MPEGStream.
That’s it.

You’re welcome, Betti. The song struck me the same way the Annie Lennox song for The Lord of the Rings did. It’s haunting, sad with a hint of hope.
Actually, I see it making more of an impact in Eclipse… in that scene when Jacob receives the invitation to Bella and Edward’s wedding… He morphs into a wolf and as he runs the song fades in…

When I heard it, ‘warmer than fire’ really reminds me to what Bella think of Jacob’s temperature. LOL.
And surprisingly, the song is sort of fun time surfing song, bout teen-boy-longing over a girl, which explains Jake’s feeling to Bella.
And then really hits me when it goes to the ‘crashed her motorcycle’ LOLOL.
