How Robert Pattinson May Win An Oscar with the Help of Harvey Weinstein

“I had 15 [Oscar] best-picture nominees out of 16 years. That’s never been done before,” so declared Harvey Weinstein to Newsweek. It may sound arrogant, but true.

In the amfAR event where Robert Pattinson kisses were sold for $20,000 each, the Hollywood movie mogul, who also happened to be the amfAR chairman, introduced the Twilight hunk himself; and then went on to describe Robert Pattinson as extraordinary, aside from being the object of affection of his three daughters, who all want to marry the Twilight heartthrob and have changed their last names to Pattinson in preparation for the future event.

More importantly, Harvey Weinstein pronounced, “I want [Robert Pattinson] to star in a movie for me.” (go to 0:40)

Aside from commercial popular fare, such as Kill Bill and Ella Enchanted, Harvey Weinstein has, under his belt as producer or executive producer, Oscar nominations and wins alike for films such as The Reader, Gangs of New York, The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love and Good Will Hunting.

The first Oscar win for Best Actress for Kate Winslet was in a Harvey Weinstein production of The Reader, while Dame Judi Dench received a golden statuette for her work in Shakespeare in Love, and five Academy Award nominations from Harvey Weinstein productions.

Shakespeare in Love, in particular, was a surprise win in the Oscar Best Picture category, but, to hear Harvey Weinstein tell it, he would attribute its triumph to his own tenacity, “The fact that it was a brilliant movie had nothing to do with its win [over Saving Private Ryan].”

What he did was to make sure that Academy members saw the film and even went as far as to hawking it door to door, “‘Can I come over to your house and show it to you?’ I used to do that. I was like Santa Claus. I had all the DVDs, and I’d go to everybody’s house, with cookies.”

As Newsweek stated, “The lesson: never bet against Harvey.”

And, it’s good to know that the Hollywood mogul is in the corner of Robert Pattinson

Yes without a doubt it is good to have people like Weinstein on your side. He is a power guy with taste and not into making horror stuff which is what a lot of the other cast members of Twilight can fetch. Deadend stuff most of it. This man makes real story films. Rob must show grace and good sense for a man like this to take note…
