Eclipse Cast Viewed Rough Unedited Cut of New Moon

On the afternoon of 15 August 2000, the Eclipse cast reportedly had a private screening of New Moon. With director Chris Weitz out and about in Vancouver, more details are surfacing. Lainey Gossip reports
Weitz was asked about the private screening for the cast etc that took place last weekend. It was a rough, unedited cut of New Moon. No score, obviously still requiring a lot of work.
But he talked passionately about how impressed he was with his young actors. That they could all stand up next to the veterans he’s worked with. Said they were all amazing, surprised at how well they performed, and singled out Taylor Lautner as the one with the most potential out of them all.
Aside from the Eclipse cast, New Moon actor Edi Gathegi and The Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer also viewed the film in Arizona during another private screening.

wow even Chris is singling Taylor out. Really not fair. I know he’s talented and all but he’s not the only one with potential and the not the most at that. Can’t wait what kind of PR they will use for Eclipse..love triangle..:D

with all the sights on Rob and Kristen I think is quite normal what Summit is trying to do… We know how talented our Couple is, but Taylor works well too and maybe needs some support… It’s not his fault, New Moon is more about Bella and Jacob, so I think is great for the saga that Taylor is/will be able to do a great work…. is the best for Twilight
talking about other things, I’ve been shopping today… Plaids, hoodies, caps… I haven’t been at any shoe store, so I don’t know anything about sneakers… hehehe

Chris Weitz seem to be a great guy (the cast obviously adores him as seen in CC’09) but he’s not new in the biz and he knows the game. As the director, he knows he has to please not just the fans but the producers as well. And since the latter wants to build up Taylor (because really Taylor has to become The JACOB, the-boy-turned-man who will make Edward feel threatened..if we think of that in the context of the book’s evolution, we’d understand why Summit wants Taylor to be that guy who could atleast measure up to Rob’s appeal)…Chris knows people will listen to what he would say, and he might not be lying (re Taylor with the most potential)but he knows the power of his words.
And that Rob doesn’t need him in this sense anymore because Rob’s already “there”, Rob has already reached a niche on top that would probably take Taylor A LOT more (i don’t know what really)to reach. So Chris is just doing his job. But he has said a lot of good things also of Rob and Kristen.
