The clouds poured a month's worth of rain in six hours and caused flash flooding in several areas in Metro Manila where I live, rendering a lot of Filipinos homeless. Unfortunately, the unprecedented rains also rendered a lot of the government agencies helpless. I had to go out into the rains and fetch my nephew because he and my brother were trapped in a car, together with other vehicles, between two bodies of water, thankfully not rushing water though. Everyone in my family was safe in the end, but, unfortunately, not everyone can say the same. Yes, please do send help through your local Red Cross. I'm sure any donation you make through your local chapter will reach the Philippines. I have also personally seen the efficiency and passion of the Philippine Red Cross workers here so I am confident that your donations will be received by the typhoon victims.
